It's been exactly ten days since Phil died, and Dan has been an emotional wreck.

The ebony-haired lad had been a victim of a horrific plane crash when he was flying to Florida to visit family.

Dan was depressed for days on end. He shut off all forms of communication to his friends and family; he even stopped making videos. All hope seemed lost until one day a cat came into his life. As cliche as it sounds, the feline appeared out of nowhere on one faithful, rainy night. The cat was pawing and meowing at the door, begging to be let into the warm apartment. Reluctantly, Dan let the animal in. Thank goodness that cat showed up when it did, for if it didn't Dan would've ended his life with a rusty blade.

The cat, which turned out to be male, had silky black fur and sparking blue eyes. Concerned if the animal had an owner, the brown-eyed boy put out fliers all over London. He waited and waited, but no one claimed the cat. Dan finally decided to keep the creature. He couldn't decide what to name it so Dan made a video, asking his viewers what the cat should be named. The fans were shocked but mostly ecstatic the YouTuber was making videos. Most of the viewers suggested the name 'Phil' to honor the deceased vlogger. Dan pondered the idea, the cat did resemble the older boy. In the end, Dan did name the cat Phil.

Over the years Dan recovered from his tragic loss. He began to make videos once more, his fanbase supporting him.Phil began appearing in his videos, and Dan loved it. It wasn't long until him and Phil being in videos together became a regular basis. They became an Internet sensation, becoming more famous that Dan had ever imagined.

Ten long years later, Dan has finally settled down. He now has a wife and two kids. His life seems to be at an all time high now, but there is still this...void...in his life.

On one stormy night, Phil suddenly woke up. He stretched before looking around the room from his spot at the foot of Dan and his wife's bed, almost like it was foreign to him. And, in a way, it was. Despite the fact Phil has lived here alongside Dan and his family, he felt like he was seeing the world in a different light with his cerulean cat eyes. Phil glanced over at Dan's nightstand; his gaze landed on a particular picture frame. Gone But Never Forgotten was printed on the frame. The photo inside was one of Dan and his dead human friend Phil.

The cat's eyes then wandered to the clock. 12:00. Phil knew it was him time to leave again, for Dan was finally at peace. He jumped off the bed, landing with a small, dull thud. Phil maneuvered his way through the darkness, his coal-colored fur made the him almost invisible. The only thing distinguishing Phil from the dark was his bright blue eyes and whiskers which glowed a whitish color because of the light of the pale moon outside. Phil opened the window easily with his paws. The rain suddenly came to an abrupt halt. Even time itself seemed to freeze. Phil glanced at the room one last time before he stared at Dan. He had changed so much, but yet he still had a sense about him that made him familiar even after all this years.

Phil turned, looking down at the night-fallen city. He then closed his eyes, and jumped. The windows closed behind him. Phil was falling, but at the same time he wasn't. He felt a strange notion of relief. Maybe because he had already experienced the terror of falling, knowing there was no hope of living so he leaned to accept it. Finally, his plummet towards the unforgiving Earth came to an end. The rain resumed its dreary task, and time flowed once more.

The next morning Dan woke up with a jolt. He felt around for the habitual lump of fur, but found nothing. Dan's brown eyes were filled with worry as he searched around the room. The cat was nowhere to be found. Dan's wife awoke with a yawn before looking at him with a perplexed expression.

"What's wrong, love?" She asked, concerned why her husband was acting like this. Dan ignored her question as he continued to search the room for the missing feline but to avail. He stopped when his caramel eyes landed on his nightstand. Dan felt his body unconsciously walk over, picking up two pictures off the wooden furniture. Both of them contained a photograph of him and Phil. One had the human Phil while the other had the cat Phil. Dan's eyes widened, and his hands began to tremble. He felt his palms grow sweaty, causing the picture frames to slip between his fingers, The photos met the floor with a loud crash; glass shards littered the ground. His body suddenly became a lot heavier as he grasped one of the bed posts before taking a seat at the end of the mattress. he had never felt so conflicted in his whole life as his fingers found their way into his hair.

He had finally discovered his void.

"Dan?" His wife's voice was small, for she was afraid of what he had just done.

Dan turned to face her, and spoke with the quietest voice he'd ever used in his entire life. He'd be shocked if even a mouse heard him.

"He was here..."

I'm not sure what to say other than "What the fudge did I just write?!"
